Mayto and Tehuamixtle 10 years later.

Yesterday, June 28th, 2011, we retraced a journey we took in July 2001 and did a little more exploring. .  A drive south from Puerto Vallarta to Playa Mayto, and Tehuamixtle.  We had heard there had been major road improvements, plans for future development as well as a certain discovery by Vallarta tourists, so we wanted to see for ourselves.   Basically the area has not fundamentally changed, but we have much more exploring to do on future trips.   While the road to Mayto from El Tuito has been upgraded (and upgrading continues), it is still a long and tiring drive.  Next time we will definitely spend two nights in the area.
Lots to explore in Cabo Corrientes (south of Puerto Vallarta)

Lots of different accommodations.

Unfortunately, after we took the above picture, it began to rain, so we moved on to the neighbouring village of Tehua, where the sun came out and the skies cleared.

Sheltered beach (Tehuamixtle, Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco)

Mid day at Tehuamixtle
From Tehua, we headed across the Bay to El Cielito at Villa del Mar

Infinity pool at El Cielito.  Small, but gorgeous view.

Clouds coming back.  Time to head back to Vallarta.

The little hotel Jardin del Tuito.   Wish we were staying HERE instead of driving all the way back to Vallarta, but we´re only in El Tuito!

GUESS WE´LL HAVE TO COME BACK.
